This is a term which haunts all…be it a school kid or a an Executive
Its importance cant be undermined in anybody’s life
We often see kids…walking slowly….kicking pebbles, picking out flowers from bushes, chasing butterflies……
While we are running behind schedule, have half a dozen things pending…notes to photocopy, studies to do, friends to catch up with, wardrobe to re arrange,e-mails to read, calls to make…..and Facebook!…who can forget that!
And We think…Those were the days….when we could run around do our thing…without a care in the world…..
Its true. Life takes a 180 degree turn the moment we are grown up
at least when it comes to the seriousness of realization of Time management
It can happen anytime…for some people it happens at the age of 10 for some 30.
Any Educational/Intellectual Seminar u attend..Any successful person u interview..will hear the use of the phrase “time management”
But what is Gen Y doing about Time Management when there’s no time to even think about it?
I always wonder…..We do get borred and we do get tired.?
Which means Both happen
We are Busy.We are free
Now this onwards, lets talk from teh point of view of a youngster
When we are busy we are busier than the President of India.
And when we are free……we don’t know what to do except mindlessly switch TV Channels or listen to the radio…Lie down without Sleep…or …whatever…
Why should all work come together? why do all tiring things happen together?
That’s the reason we are hopelessly working round the clock sometimes and killing time.
But are we really Busy?
Do we utilize time properly?
Everybody has 24 hours, right? Then how come some people manage to do things we just think about.
Its all about Priorities and Clarity of Plans…..buddy.
If u aim to do well in class next semester, besides working towards learning cooking from mom, and u have to attend meetings everyday for volunteering for the upcoming fest for the last one week and which will last for another 10 days, while admitting that music and Reading Novels are ur must-do Relaxation mantras. u have to Prioritise. Break ur ambitions into long term, mid-term and short term plans and have a strategy towards each. Either u have one aim and two relaxation mantras or two aims which becomes ur relaxation mantra as well.Work out permutaions and combinations in ur mind so u can set what is it u want really badly,so badly that u can do anything for it.Its clear.
U cant fulfil all ur professional aims while relaxing in all possible media (reading Novels,TV, Music, Facebook) !
To Gen-Y
Multi Tasking is the ultimate solution to all Time management Issues.
The most common Multi Tasking Activity: Listen to music while on commute so u save time when u get home.
Who doesn’t do it?:)
Read the newspaper while hmmm……u got it…watching T.V. In between breaks yaar….not what u thought ;-)
Revise for ur test while on commute to the Tuition center rather than cry about not getting time after getting a single digit score;-)
Walk while u talk…Go for a walk and talk to friend on phone or for real if u r lucky enough to have a walk-buddy who stays close by…Walk ka walk…Exercise and Talk ka talk…Socialise ;-0
But not on the phone, on the main Road or even a busy street for that matter….before anyone sues me for propagation of violating traffic norms.
For all the gyaan I donno how much I implement it myself……
At the moment, my Semester exams are over, I have office from Monday and nothing to do except office work within the 10a.m-6p.m limit. Neither Am I Sad that I have to work in the same old schedule Nor Am I sad that I’ll be bored from 8p.m. to 9a.m everyday, and weekends (Socialising being my top notch relaxation mantra, most of my friends staying far away or those who are close by, busy with tuitions and studies and exams)
Because I know that I’ll do something to make my life interesting. Kuch toh ho hi jaega…..
Eevryone who’s reading….comments are welcome….Feel Free.
